The connecting rod is one of the most important moving components in an internal combustion engine. present work determined possibility using aluminium alloy 7075 material to design and manufacture a for weight optimisation without losing strength rod. It considered modal thermal analyses investigate suitability design. parameters that were under analysis were: total deformation, natural frequency, while looked at temperature distribution, heat flux directional four rods made with titanium alloy, grey cast iron, structural steel respectively. was modelled Autodesk inventor2017 software calculated parameters. steady-state used determine induced flux. study found Aluminium deformed more than remaining three other materials but has superior qualities terms vibrational lightweight compared steel, iron alloy.

Finite Element Analysis of Connecting Rod

Abstract—The connecting rod transmits the piston load to the crank causing the latter to turn, thus converting the reciprocating motion of the piston into a rotary motion of the crankshaft. Connecting rods are subjected to forces generated by mass and fuel combustion. This study investigates and compares the fatigue behavior of forged steel, powder forged and ASTM a 514 steel cold quenched conn...

buckling of viscoelastic composite plates using the finite strip method

Process capability improvement of an engine connecting rod machining process

Statistical process control is an excellent quality assurance tool to improve the quality of manufacture and ultimately scores on end-customer satisfaction. SPC uses process monitoring charts to record the key quality characteristics (KQCs) of the component in manufacture. This paper elaborates on one such KQC of the manufacturing of a connecting rod of an internal combustion engine. Here th...
